Apply Now for the Dr Sinead McGrath Memorial International Development Scholarship
The Centre for Global Development, Department of Anthropology, Maynooth University is pleased to announce the Dr. Sinead McGrath memorial scholarship scheme for the forthcoming academic year, 2026/27.
The Centre for Global Development welcomes applications for a Masters bursary, which is worth €2500 for the winning student. Interested applicants are invited to submit a CV, a personal statement (500 words) and a short outline (400 words) on their proposed research topic and its place within the theory and practice of international development, or international peacebuilding, to internationaldevelopment@mu.ie.
Applicants must have received a firm or conditional offer of a place on either the MA in International Development, or the MA in International Peacebuilding, Security and Development Practice, by 31st July 2026 for their bursary application to be assessed.
Deadline for applications is 1 September 2026.

Background
This bursary has been set up in memory of Dr. Sinéad McGrath who passed away in January 2022. Sinéad was a part time lecturer with Maynooth University who taught in the areas of conflict, development, migration and human rights. She was an inspirational teacher, researcher and activist who was deeply committed to peace, justice and human rights and particularly concerned about the rights of women.
