About the Award
The Dr Mary Redmond Honorary Award is a national honour bestowed by The Wheel’s board of directors on a person who has made an extraordinary contribution to civil society in Ireland. The award is named after Dr Mary Redmond, the late academic, lawyer and founder of The Wheel and the Irish Hospice Foundation.
2021 Awardees
In recognition of a phenomenal Covid response, the board of directors have awarded the 2021 Dr Mary Redmond Honorary Award to the staff and volunteers of the community and voluntary sector.
The board of The Wheel is delighted to make this award to in recognition, admiration and thanks for the outstanding contribution made during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021 – not only in directly providing care and other supports for people and communities who needed it due to Covid-19, for but keeping so many other essential services and connections running throughout as well.
