8 New Volunteer Centres to be Established in 2020

Posted on 25 Sep 2019

Volunteer Ireland is delighted to announce that 8 new full service Volunteer Centres will be established in the eight counties that currently do not have one: Cavan, Kilkenny, Leitrim, Laois, Offaly, Roscommon, Waterford and Wexford.

The Volunteer Centres will help people who want to volunteer in their community to find suitable volunteer roles and will help local organisations to recruit volunteers. It will also provide a range of other services including Garda vetting and training in volunteer management. To date, these counties have had a Volunteering Information Service operating with very limited time and staff resources.

Recruitment for Trustees

Recruitment is now open for trustees of the boards of the eight Volunteer Centres. Trustees with a range of skills are being sought to drive the future of volunteering in Cavan, Kilkenny, Leitrim, Laois, Offaly, Roscommon, Waterford and Wexford.

Volunteer Ireland is encouraging anyone with an interest in volunteering to consider joining the Volunteer Centre boards. This is a unique opportunity to join the Volunteer Centre at the beginning of their journey and have a real and meaningful impact on volunteering in the area.

Over the next few weeks, Volunteer Ireland will host local public meetings for anyone interested in learning more about the Volunteer Centre in their county. More information on the board recruitment process and the public meeting is available here.
