Member Q&A

What is your goal?

Helplink Mental Health’s mission is to provide accessible, free or low-cost mental health services for children, young people and adults; 7 days a week and out–of–hours. The three types of mental health services that Helplink provides are: Counselling, Information Provision and Education.

How have you been working towards it?

Why have been working towards achieving our goal by providing innovative, unique and accessible mental health services, to our clients, nationally and also globally (Irish citizens abroad)!

How has being a member of The Wheel helped?

We have gained insights into the many facets of providing a stable and sustainable social enterprise with charitable status by participating in many workshops and other learning experiences provided by The Wheel. Furthermore, we have been given good advice on topics that come up from time to time to do with the running of our organisation and we have enjoyed meeting like-minded organisations through the networking events.

How can people support you?

People can help support our organisation by spreading the word about the services we provide and how they are available for all. The best way of doing this in the current climate is by following our social media platforms and hopefully sharing our content.

Do you have any success stories to share?

Helplink is the first mental health organisation in Ireland to provide a national gambling addiction counselling service, that is free for the client and also is available for loved ones of those who have gambling dependency issues. Helplink is also the first mental health organisation to provide a global counselling service for Irish citizens/Diaspora. We have supported our fellow citizens with their mental well-being across 34 countries and 58 cities globally since we began this free service. Helplink is also the first mental health organisation to provide an online platform where people can view libraries of videos and podcasts from Ireland and all over the world around the topics of mental health and emotional well-being; this platform is called Mind Hacks (mindhacks.ie). Finally among our many mental health services we are still the only provider of counselling services 7 days a week and out-of-hours for children, young people and adults in the West of Ireland.
