Research Lead to guide the development of Good Practice Guidelines for Psychologists Working with the Traveller Community

The Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) is recruiting a Research Lead to guide the development of Good Practice Guidelines for Working with the Traveller Community.

This project is being undertaken in recognition of the high rates of mental health difficulties, suicidality, and disability within the Traveller community. The Guidelines will aim to support psychologists in providing culturally sensitive, inclusive, and evidence-informed practice when working with members of the Traveller community. The Research Lead will work closely with the PSI Project Steering Team and Traveller community representatives.

Key responsibilities include:

• Reviewing and synthesising existing research (including community-led reports).

• Building respectful partnerships with Traveller organisations and representatives.

• Developing culturally sensitive, evidence-informed practice guidelines.

• Co-developing resources in collaboration with Traveller representatives.

• Delivering a workshop at the 2026 PSI Annual Conference (November 2026) on culturally competent engagement and research.

The PSI strongly encourages applications from members of the Traveller community.

Further details on the role, responsibilities, and application process are included in the attached Request for Tender.
