Irish Hospice Foundation (IHF) is a national charity that addresses dying, death and bereavement in Ireland. Our vision is an Ireland where people facing end of life or bereavement, and those who care for them, are provided with the care and support that they need.
Through advocacy and education, and the provision of services such as Nurses for Night Care and the Bereavement Support Line and our national programmes such as Hospice Friendly Hospitals, Dying Well at Home and Caru – Supporting Care & Compassion at End of Life in Nursing Homes, Adult Bereavement Programme and Irish Childhood Bereavement Network, IHF works to ensure that every person in Ireland can die and grieve well, whatever their age and wherever the place.
About the Role
Job Purpose: The role of Marketing & Communications Executive presents an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, creative individual to join Irish Hospice Foundation to contribute to the delivery the marketing and communications strategy of the organisation. This is a pivotal time for the organisation as it has recently launched a new five-year strategy and will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary in 2026. This is a broad and busy role with the opportunity to input on all aspects of the work of a busy marketing and communications team.
Our Marketing & Communications Team forms a central role in promoting conversations on dying, death and bereavement and our Marketing & Communications Executive is one such role. The successful candidate will work directly with key internal personnel and stakeholders in the development and delivery of effective messaging across a range of formats and media.
Salary: €37,338 - €43,927 depending on experience
Contract Type: Permanent Full Time (37 hours a week)
Job Location: Our offices are based on Nassau St., Dublin 2. We have a hybrid work model in place (a minimum requirement of 2 days a week in the office).
Reporting to: Communications Manager
Responsibilities:
- Supporting on all team initiatives, including: digital marketing, content development for social media, newsletters, websites, brochures and campaigns, development and deployment of paid and earned media campaigns, digital fundraising, development of short form video content, media relations, brand guardianship, event management and internal communications.
- Contributing to brand guardianship and brand equity, working to consistently elevate trust in the Irish Hospice Foundation brand.
- Supporting in managing key annual campaigns for fundraising, advocacy, bereavement, end-of-life care and other activities across the organisation.
- Inputting on performance management of activity through post-campaign analysis, utilising effective reporting through analytics, feedback, and other relevant metrics and creating action plans for growth and improvement. Preparing suitable reports and channels to share metrics with relevant internal stakeholders.
- Contributing to the development of the team and wider organisation’s activities by keeping up to date on innovations and best practice within the communications, digital and charity sector.
- Supporting the Director of Marketing & Communications with timely reporting and content to support strategic projects and activities.
- Maintaining effective and cordial working relationships with internal stakeholders, partner organisations and third-party service providers.
Any other tasks as may be assigned by the manager or designated person.
Qualifications and Experience
IHF is open to applications from candidates who have experience in most but not all of the following areas. The successful candidate will be supported through their induction to increase their knowledge and ability to deliver on the responsibilities outlined here. Further training and ongoing support will be available.
Essential:
- Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or a relevant discipline.
- A minimum of three years relevant experience.
- Agility to meet strict deadlines in a busy, dynamic and demanding environment and effective negotiation skills to support in the management of competing requests.
- Professional level proficiency in core digital and e-commerce tools e.g. Google’s GA4, WordPress, Adobe Suite, Hootsuite (or similar), Facebook ads, LinkedIn ads, Google Ads, Canva, E-mail marketing software. A knowledge of AI tools and their potential use within the NGO marketplace would be an advantage.
- Excellent writing and communication skills online and offline with proven ability to deliver high impact messages and content.
- The ability to write and deliver values-led content and maintain a consistent and compelling tone across written and visual content.
- A strong understanding of the print, broadcast and social media environment and a proven track record of using a range of digital and traditional channels to promote a message or campaign.
- Proven ability in working with third party suppliers e.g. design agencies/printers and others as needed.
- Excellent organisational and day-to-day IT and presentation skills (MS Packages).
- A proven track record of delivering services within a professional marketing and communications team.
- Detail oriented with the ability to work on own initiative and take responsibility for projects and assigned tasks.
- Dynamic and results focused with a strong analytical approach and practical analytical skills.
- Creative thinker with ability to come up with fresh ideas, good at finding ways to be innovative within tight budgets.
- Team player - motivating, developing and empowering.
- Courage, passion, sensitivity and resilience for dealing with matters relating to dying, death and bereavement.
