Location:                FoodCloud Kitchen, Clondalkin
Reporting to:         Chef Manager
Contract:                Indefinite duration
Hours:                    37.5 hours per week
Salary:                    €28,750 per annum

About the Job 

FoodCloud has opened a new kitchen as part of our effort to reduce food waste and we cook and innovate in this space as well as cater for many different types of events. The Kitchen Porter will play a vital role in ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently, safely, and to the highest hygiene standards. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role suited to someone who is reliable, adaptable, and enjoys working as part of a team.

You will support chefs with kitchen preparation and operations while also collaborating with colleagues across the organisation to support events and wider FoodCloud activities, contributing to the delivery of high-quality services that support communities and stakeholders. This role offers valuable experience in a professional kitchen while contributing to a purpose-driven organisation that makes a real difference in the community.

Key Responsibilities

1. Food Safety, Hygiene & Quality Control

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the kitchen, following the cleaning schedule as designed 
  • Deep clean the kitchen as required 
  • Support the chef in keeping the kitchen in good working order 
  • Ensure the kitchen is ready at all times for audit or inspection
  • Adhering to Health & Safety Regulations by following all food safety, hygiene & sanitation protocols while maintaining safe work practices 
  • Complete other duties as required to support the project 

 2. Kitchen Operations & Support

  • Assist the chef when required in basic prep work or ingredient assembly 
  • Support kitchen operations during events including loading and unloading food and equipment
  • Identify and raise issues promptly to your line manager using judgement to support smooth kitchen operations
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks ensuring they are completed to a high standard and on time
  • Ensure that supplies are decanted and stored away safely and hygienically
  • Dispose of kitchen waste in accordance with health & safety regulations. Ensure that all bins are regularly emptied and recycling procedures are followed

  3. Collaboration and Team Work

  • Work effectively as part of the FoodCloud kitchen team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with chefs and team members to support coordination and resolve issues efficiently
  • Support cross-functional collaboration by working with colleagues across FoodCloud (e.g. events, operations, logistics) to deliver successful events and initiatives
  • Collaborate with team members across the FoodCloud organisation

4. Time Management

  • Working under pressure is an important part of day to day operations in a kitchen. You should have a flexible approach to work in the kitchen
  • Adapt to changes that occur on a daily basis 
  • Support the team by being punctual and reliable

5. Professional Development

  • Improve on your knowledge and show a willingness to learn and grow within your role 
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency, cleanliness, and ways of working
  • Show a willingness to learn, develop skills, and continuously improve performance
  • Maintain a positive attitude and openness to feedback

Qualifications and Skills 

● Good Attention to detail is required, particularly in relation to hygiene and food safety 

● Ability to work on your own initiative  while also contributing effectively as part of a team 

● Willingness to follow directions and learn new skills

● HACCP Training preferable but not essential

● Experience in a similar role

● Physical fitness and the ability to stand for long periods, lift items, and work in a fast-paced environment
