Human Resources & Administration Executive €34-36K
Are you the engine of your company, the crucial cog that keeps everything running smoothly? Imagine taking those skills to an organisation that appreciates your value and allows you to mould the job as you see fit. What if that job was at the centre of an amazing charity that’s saving lives?
About the company
The Marie Keating Foundation was established by her children after the death of their mother, Marie, from breast cancer in 1998. She would have had a greater chance of surviving the disease had she been more aware of the symptoms and the importance of early detection.
Today, the Foundation is one of the leading voices in Ireland for cancer prevention, awareness, and support. Their mission is to make cancer less frightening by enlightening. That comes through a commitment to being there for people diagnosed with cancer and their families at every step of their cancer journey. Their information and support services reach thousands of people each year, with education and advice focused on cancer prevention and early detection. They also provide support services and financial assistance to those living with and beyond cancer.
These crucial services are delivered through a small but incredibly dedicated team - the nurses and drivers out on the road and the business functions in the Tallaght office. Since 2016, the Foundation has achieved the Triple Lock of Good Governance for the Charity Sector every year, one of a small number of Irish charities that achieve this gold standard.
About the job
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support the whole Foundation business by looking after HR and facilities, helping finance and providing administrative support to the CEO. HR responsibilities are at the core of this role. They will include updating the staff handbook, recruitment & onboarding, T&D, contracts and maximising the use of the HR system. The Foundation is finalising a migration project to BrightHR, so if you have worked on a migration project before or have strong systems experience, that would be a distinct advantage.
You will also be responsible for office maintenance, liaising with the landlord and tradespeople and managing stationery and office equipment. Tech support is an important element of the role, whether managing the phones, PCs and laptops, or dealing with the IT systems and software. Ideally, you will be technically knowledgeable to the point of providing support and advice for staff as well as competently dealing with third-party IT providers.
Experience carrying out duties for the finance function would be desirable but not essential, as complete training will be given. However, you will help with payroll expenses, timesheets, general accounts and bookkeeping tasks. Then, there is the key element of assisting the CEO with preparing board papers and general admin support.
As you can see, this role is very varied. You’ll need to be an exceptional organiser, whether managing your time or juggling tasks while providing outstanding service to all staff members. The incumbent has set a very high bar.
What you’ll get in return
Few things are more rewarding than knowing your job is making a difference. Doing this role in the private or public sector would be very enjoyable for the right person. However, by facilitating the work of the Foundation in community groups, workplaces, and public places and making the office run smoothly, you can take pride in knowing your professionalism in this job will help with cancer prevention, awareness, and support.
The office is a fun, supportive environment. The Marie Keating Foundation has a culture that allows people to develop organically. For example, if you want to learn more about finance, HR or IT, they’ll provide training and allow you the space to develop in the role as you see fit.
Working hours are 9-5 Monday to Friday with an hour’s lunch. The role is hybrid with up to three days working from home. Holidays are 23 days with an additional two days off for Christmas and one for Good Friday. Also, you have the option of a contributory pension.
