Green Schools Officer - Green-Schools Water & Energy themes

An Taisce is currently seeking a Green-Schools Officer, based in Munster, to support the Water and Energy themes within a dynamic team.

Background & Context:

An Taisce is the national operator of several highly successful environmental programmes such as Green-Schools, Blue Flag, Clean Coasts and the Climate Ambassador programmes.

The Green-Schools programme is run on a national basis and supports schools in developing a culture of sustainability across a range of environmental themes. More than 90% of schools in Ireland take part in the programme. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Organise and facilitate student training and events
  • Train and support teachers with the implementation of the Water and Energy themes at their school
  • Develop educational resources for primary and secondary schools
  • Develop opportunities for collaborations, internally and externally
  • Carry out Green Flag renewal visits to schools where required
  • Review and assess Green-Schools application forms for the Green Flag award
  • Assist with reporting including preparation of end of year report
  • Support programme administration
  • Undertake any other such relevant duties as may from time to time arise and are considered appropriate

3rd Level Qualification in environmental studies, education or science (or a minimum of two years’ work-experience in one of these fields)Essential
