Scifest is recruiting for a Business Development Executive.
Support the Future of STEM with SciFest
SciFest is Ireland’s largest and most inclusive second-level STEM fair programme. It is implemented at local, regional and national level, with participation in international events. SciFest provides a platform for students to explore the STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and maths) through project-based learning. The programme is free to enter and provides opportunities for students from all backgrounds and circumstances to develop critical thinking, creativity and innovation skills. With participation increasing year-on-year, some 16,000 students took part during the current academic year.
We are now seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Business Development Executive to join our small, dynamic team and help us secure the future growth and sustainability of the SciFest programme.
Role: Business Development Executive
Contract: Part-time, two days per week (or equivalent)
Term: Two-year contract initially
Remuneration: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Location: Flexible – opportunities for remote/hybrid working arrangements
About the Role
As SciFest Business Development Executive, you will play a key role in supporting SciFest’s mission to provide free, inclusive access to STEM opportunities for students across Ireland. Your primary focus will be on developing and implementing fundraising strategies to secure charitable donations, sponsorships, and grants to sustain and expand the programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and engage potential donors, sponsors, and grant-making bodies
- Create compelling fundraising campaigns and proposals
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with supporters and stakeholders
- Manage donor databases and ensure accurate record-keeping
- Contribute to the development and sustainability of the SciFest programme
- Report on fundraising targets and progress to the SciFest leadership team
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in development and/or fundraising roles, ideally in the charity sector
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong organisational and planning abilities
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Passion for STEM education and youth development
