Irish Centre for European Law - Privacy and Data Protection Conference 2023

The Irish Centre for European Law (ICEL) are hosting their annual Privacy and Data Protection Conference on Thursday 15 June 2023. It will take place at the Royal Irish Academy, 19 Dawson Street, Dublin 2, D02 HH58. The conference begins at 10am (registration from 9:30am) and will conclude at 4pm.

This is a hybrid conference, with in-person and online tickets available.

The conference will feature leading practitioners and experts providing updates on important and topical issues including:  

  • Deirdre Kilroy, Partner, Bird & Bird on the impact of recent and upcoming technology legislation on privacy and data protection.
  • Philip Nolan, Partner, Mason Hayes & Curran on enforcement and sanctions.
  • Eileen Barrington SC on international data transfers.

  • Dr Róisín Costello BL on "mixed" data. 

On the fifth anniversary of GDPR taking effect, the pace of change is unprecedented, with key developments emerging in recent months from the Court of Justice of the EU (CJEU), supervisory authorities, and legislation. This conference will be an opportunity for legal practitioners, compliance leaders, and anyone with an interest in this area to keep up-to-date on these developments.
