Community Food Initiatives (CFI) are holding their first regional event this year in Newry on 10 April 2024.

Event Overview

Join us for an engaging 2.5-hour workshop designed to improve your facilitation skills! This session will guide you through the essentials of effective facilitation, from tailoring your approach to meet participants' needs to ensuring their voices are heard and valued. We will look at practical strategies for designing impactful activities, good techniques for post-session evaluation and reporting that reflects input and outcomes.

Principles of good facilitation

Before facilitation

a)  Designing your approach based on participants needs/abilities e.g. venue, recruitment

b)  Clarifying purpose

During facilitation

c)  Activities – types of activities that work in different settings

d)  Techniques – dealing with issues that arise, maintaining flow, ensuring valuable input

e)  Materials – typical items that help with facilitation (your toolbox)

f)    Voice – Ensuring participants know their voice has been heard

After facilitation

g)  Evaluation – how to evaluate the facilitation exercise (for participants and you)

h)  Reporting – efficient ways to report back – We asked, You Said, We Did

Community Food Initiatives

This event is part of the Community Food Initiatives (CFI) which has been funded by safefood since 2010.  SECAD Partnership is co-ordinating the Community Food Initiative (CFI) on behalf of safefood and the purpose of the Community Food Initiative (CFI) is to provide people with the knowledge and skills to provide healthy food options for themselves and their families.  As safefood is an all-island body, the organisations delivering the programme are from both Northern Ireland (NI) and the Republic of Ireland (ROI).
