Charity announces free climate action funding workshops for community groups in Dublin

Posted on 20 Dec 2023

Environmental organisation Global Action Plan has teamed up with the local authorities in the Dublin region to organise a series of free workshops for community groups, on how to access funding from new climate action budgets.

The ‘Community Climate Action Programme’ is a new grant scheme, provided by the Irish Government and administered by the Local Authorities, supporting community groups and not-for-profit organisations.

Under this new programme, Dublin City, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown and Fingal County Council have allocated substantial amounts of money for local climate projects, and community groups can apply for funding under the scheme.

In January GAP will be assisting the three local authorities in hosting free public events, in-person and online, to inform community groups in the Dublin region how the Climate Action funding scheme works.

The following events are currently scheduled, and are completely free of charge for non-profits groups, including Tidy Towns groups, youth groups, Men’s Sheds, sports clubs, scouts groups, residents associations, etc.:

  • 11 January, 5 pm, Ballymun, Ballymun Civic Centre

  • 24 January, 7 pm, Rialto, F2 Centre Rialto
