This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Sanctuary opening its doors with its vision to be a beacon of stillness and peace in the heart of Dublin city.

Inspired by her work with the homeless, Sr. Stan Kennedy along with co-founder Sile Wall founded the Sanctuary with a heartfelt wish to create a centre that would be a space for rejuvenation and a resource for those who are working on the frontlines of society.

The Sanctuary has evolved to include programmes for schools, carers, as well as for communities, whether they be organizations, workplaces or managements teams, all through a deep heartfelt wish and vision to nourish personal growth, for greater social impact.

What is most inspiring is the way the Sanctuary reflects Sr. Stan’s mission for social change. Over the years, the Sanctuary has held conferences which have gathered together the leading minds in the field of mindfulness and mental health, as a means of empowering people to go forth into the world with inspiration and intention to create a more resilient and just society.

This year, for its 25th anniversary, the Sanctuary has invited Sharon Salzberg, Dr, Tony Bates and Prof. Paul Gilbert to join Sr. Stan to discuss how we might care for ourselves, for one another and for the earth.

Through a series of online keynote talks, and follow-up workshops led by some of the Sanctuary’s facilitators, the Sanctuary hopes to continue its important work of creating a space, through the practice of stillness, that instils awareness and personal growth.
