Open Call: Advisory Group for Dublin City Council Culture Company

Posted on 2 May 2024 Last updated on 14 May 2024

Dublin City Council Culture Company are creating a new Advisory Group to support the ongoing development of their work. The Advisory Group works with the Culture Company to help strengthen its ideas, make connections and provide insights to support their work to experiment and create meaningful experiences with people and communities across Dublin.

Dublin City Council Culture Company runs cultural initiatives and buildings across the city with, and for, the people of Dublin. As well as operating the museum at 14 Henrietta Street, Dublin 1 and the cultural centre at Richmond Barracks in Inchicore, Dublin 8, the Culture Company runs programmes collaborating with people, communities, cultural organisations, businesses, and Dublin City Council to embed cultural experiences and increase cultural participation throughout Dublin.

Some of these cultural initiatives include:

  • Culture Club, a series of hosted talks and tours that introduce and encourage people to connect with the cultural spaces of the city.
  • Culture Near You,  making the city’s cultural buildings, organisations and networks more visible and easier to find through an accessible map highlighting the places and people that are making culture happen in the city.
  • The Creative Residency programmes encourage makers and experts to pilot new partnerships with organisations. By bringing creative people and organisations together, and by connecting through culture and conversations, everyone involved will develop and share new ways of working.

Past advisory groups have been made up of people from different backgrounds who come together to support the development of their work and their advocacy for cultural rights, access and opportunities. The Advisory Group is an informal, voluntary group and does not have the duties of a formal board. Members are invited to attend a maximum of four workshop-style meetings annually.

Individuals expressing an interest in the group should meet the following requirements to be considered eligible:

  • Have knowledge or experience in one of the listed areas of cultural activity through your personal or working life: community, science, the environment, the Irish language, sport, recreation, heritage, arts, or similar.
  • Be resident, or working, in Dublin city.
