Important Update On the Charitable Donation Scheme
The Charities and Sports Tax Exemption Unit of Revenue have recently written to all charities in relation to the smooth operation of the Charitable Donation Scheme.
This is the scheme that allows charities to claim a ‘top up’ of eligible donations of more than €250 by any individual taxpayer resident in Ireland and is estimated to benefit the charity sector to the tune of around €40m each year.
We would urge all charities who use the scheme to note the recommendations from Revenue and if you are not the person who operates the Scheme on behalf of your organisation, please draw this to the attention of the relevant person.
