Call for Irish Youth Participation in the EU Citizens Energy Forum

Do you want to attend the EU Citizens Energy Forum in Dublin to discuss and contribute to the debate about creating a Carbon Neutral Energy System in Europe?

The EU Commission (DG Ener and DG Just) are inviting up to 15 young people from Ireland to attend the EU Citizens Energy Forum which is being held in Ireland in the Aviva Stadium, Dublin on 12 - 13 September 2019.

WHAT’S ON THE AGENDA FOR THE DAY?

  • How to activate citizens/consumers in key sectors to decarbonise the energy system
  • Sustainable finance for greener and cleaner energy
  • Inclusive and accessible energy market.

Who: The EU Commission have contacted NYCI and have invited up to 15 young people 18-30yrs old from Ireland who are interested in contributing to the debate and discussion on creating a carbon neutral energy system in Europe to attend this high level event.

What: The Citizens’ Energy Forum is being organised by the European Commission in collaboration with the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU), Ireland’s independent energy and water regulator. The forum will focus on how to achieve a fair and inclusive energy transition for all, and discuss consumers’ role in the changing energy market, as well as their capacity to use the opportunities offered by new technologies. Other questions to be debated concern sustainable finance for energy efficiency and renewable energy production, and how to ensure that vulnerable consumers can also enjoy the benefits brought by a more efficient and flexible energy market.

Where: The Aviva Stadium, Dublin 

WhenThursday, 12 September from 9am-6pm and Friday, 13 September from 9am-1pm. 

Costs: Attendance is free. The EU Commission will also arrange and pay for accommodation (on the 11th and 12th) for those travelling from outside Dublin and will reimburse public transport costs for those attending on both days, receipts for same must be retained. Food will be provided on both days.

Deadline: Participants if eligible will be selected on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS – call will close once places filled-so please submit your expression of interest ASAP-If not fully filled call will close at 5pm on Friday, 30 August 2019.

Please note that the submission of an expression of interest form does not guarantee selection to attend.
