Our Funders

The Wheel wishes to acknowledge the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for its support of Access Europe, a capacity building programme to hep Irish civil society organisations apply for and manage EU funding.

The Wheel also wishes to acknowledge funding from the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Shared Island Civic Society Fund, part of the Government of Ireland’s Shared Island initiative. This funding has supported projects including Shared Purpose, Shifting Tides, and iCommunity.

We wish to acknowledge funding from the National Training Fund through the Department and Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, to part-fund a wide range of training delivery to the community, voluntary and charity sector.

This also includes our accredited leadership programmes and the Training Links network-led training initiative.

We wish to acknowledge ongoing core funding received through programmes from our lead Department:

• New Solutions Social Innovation Hub: The mission of this programme is to strengthen the social innovation ecosystem by fostering active inclusion, promoting equal opportunities, ensuring non-discrimination, and supporting active participation and employability, particularly for disadvantaged groups. This includes support through the social enterprise business model.
• The Community and Voluntary Pillar funding, which part-funds our public policy and advocacy function that enables us to represent the sector at national level.
• The Scheme to Support National Organisations (SSNO), administered by Pobal, is a three-year programme from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2022 with an overall value of €269,158 over three years to part-fund core salary costs within The Wheel. The Scheme to Support National Organisations is funded by the Government of Ireland through the Department of Rural and Community Development.

• EPAS

The Wheel wishes to acknowledge the European Parliament for its support of the European Parliament Ambassador School (EPAS) programme. The Wheel, as contractors, support the implementation of this programme in secondary schools across Ireland.

The Wheel wishes to acknowledge the European Union, Horizon Europe programme for its support of the INSPIRE project.

The Wheel are pleased to acknowledge the support of PEACEPLUS for their support of the Digital Communities Project. Developing solutions to increase digital capacity in rural communities across Northern Ireland and cross-border areas, Digital Communities is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).

The Wheel wishes to acknowledge SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland) for its support of the IREPO (Irish Energy Poverty Observatory) project. IREPO is a national research and data platform that tracks, analyses, and explains energy poverty in Ireland, helping policymakers understand who is affected and why.
