See What Pain Takes: Chronic Pain Ireland launches national campaign

You may see someone at work, meeting friends or taking part in community life. What you may not see is the broken sleep, careful preparation, difficult choices and recovery it took for them to be there.

Running from 14–27 September 2026, Chronic Pain Ireland’s What Pain Takes campaign shares the personal experiences of its Pain Ambassadors and reveals the often-unseen impact of chronic pain.

As part of  the campaign, Chronic Pain Ireland, the Irish Pain Society and Societal Impact of Pain (SIP) Ireland are jointly calling on the Government and the HSE to:

  • Complete and publish the National Model of Care for Acute and Chronic Pain Services, together with a funded, time-bound implementation plan.
  • Implement the ICD-11 chronic-pain classifications and improve national data on need, service capacity, access, waiting times and outcomes.

Help us make pain visible

Watch and share our Pain Ambassadors’ stories, take part in campaign events, refer people to CPI’s services, or support our work through membership, volunteering, fundraising or a donation.

Pain takes. People adapt. Support must continue.

See what pain takes. Act on what people need.
