Posted on 16 Aug 2022

The Department of Rural and Community Development is hosting a series of Rural Ideas Fora; the first being ‘Public Transport and the Opportunities for Rural Ireland’. Members of the public and stakeholders are invited to participate in this online event on 23 August @ 10.30am.

This is one of a series of online stakeholder engagement events, to discuss a number of important topics featured in ‘Our Rural Future – Rural Development Policy 2021-2025’.

The events will provide an opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities that impact on rural communities and economies. Attendees will learn more about ongoing work relating to key objectives contained in the policy, and hear from a panel of key stakeholders.

With a third of Irish people living outside the cities and main towns, investment in our rural transport services and networks is crucial to ensuring the future development and prosperity of all parts of Ireland.

Speakers:

  • Tim Gaston – Director of Public Transport Services, National Transport Authority (NTA)
  • Deirdre de Bhailís – Business Development Executive, Dingle Creativity and Innovation Hub
  • Seamus Boland – CEO, Irish Rural Link
  • Fiona O’Shea – TFI Local Link Manager, Donegal-Sligo-Leitrim.
