Meitheal Makers Opens Applications for Community Climate and Biodiversity Projects
Community groups with ideas for local climate or biodiversity action are being invited to apply for Meitheal Makers, a new pilot programme supporting communities to turn environmental ideas into practical projects.
The programme will select five community groups, with four participants from each group, to attend a residential planning retreat in Kilfenora, Co. Clare, from Wednesday 11 to Friday 13 November.
The programme will support participating communities to develop a clear and realistic project plan and raise €500 locally. Each group will then receive €500 in match-funding from Common Knowledge to help get its project underway.
Within six months of the residential retreat, participating groups will deliver a local climate or biodiversity-focused meitheal – a community-led day of practical action.
The pilot is open to community-led groups working on local environmental, climate, biodiversity and place-based projects. Participation in the pilot phase is free of charge for selected communities.
Applications are open until Monday 5 October.
