Announcing National Public Libraries Open Day 2026

Libraries Ireland is pleased to announce that the National Public Libraries Open Day 2026 will take place on Saturday, 26 September.

The Open Day is a nationwide celebration of Ireland’s public library service and an opportunity to encourage more people to discover the benefits of free library membership.

Libraries across the country will showcase the wide range of services, resources and opportunities available in local communities, from books and reading programmes to learning opportunities, local history resources and community activities.

As one of more than 1,100 services delivered by local authorities, our 330 public libraries support communities across Ireland through access to information, learning, culture, creativity and connection.
