Summary of the role
The Youthwork Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, delivery and monitoring of youthwork programmes and activities in order to promote the personal, educational, creative and social development of young people, helping them reach their full potential.
Responsibilities of the role
Reporting to the CEO the candidate will be responsible for:
- Ensuring that services are delivered to a high standard, are compliant with relevant legislation and policy and align with the organisation’s strategic objectives
- The leadership, development and management of youth work programmes across the organisation.
- Managing staff and volunteers, overseeing programme planning and evaluation, contributing to organisational governance and representing the organisation with funders, statutory agencies and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- A recognised qualification at Level 8 or higher in Youth Work, Community Work, Social Care or a related discipline.
- Significant experience (minimum 5 years) in a leadership or management role within youth work, community development, social care, education, family support or a related field. Demonstrable understanding of the youth work and community sector is essential.
- Proven experience in staff management, supervision and team development
- Excellent knowledge of safeguarding and child protection including Children First National Guidance
- Experience in programme planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting
- Strong leadership, communication and relationship‑management skills
- Ability to contribute strategically at Senior Management Team level
- Commitment to equality, inclusion and youth‑led practice
