Summary of the role
Purpose of the Role
The Communications & Marketing Executive will support the Communications and Marketing team in the delivery of Shine’s communications, marketing, digital, social media, campaign and stakeholder engagement activities. The role will involve contributing to content development, social media and digital activity, campaign support, event promotion, media monitoring, reporting and general communications administration, working under the direction of the Communications & Marketing Officer.

Salary: €21,778 (0.6 WTE)
Location: Flexible work location, with occasional attendance required at Shine’s head office in Maynooth and at events or meetings as needed
Working pattern: Flexible working arrangements, subject to organisational needs
Responsibilities of the role
Duties and Responsibilities
Communications and Content
• Assist in creating, preparing and distributing clear, engaging content, including e
newsletters, website updates, blog content, social media posts and campaign materials.
• Draft, edit and proofread communications materials for Shine’s services, advocacy,
campaigns, fundraising and stakeholder engagement.
• Apply Shine’s brand guidelines, plain English principles and accessibility standards
consistently across digital and printed materials.
Digital and Social Media
• Support the preparation, scheduling and publication of content across Shine’s social
media platforms and digital channels.
• Contribute to the maintenance of Shine’s website and digital content calendar, working
with the Communications & Marketing Officer and wider team.
• Assist with gathering and reviewing social media and digital analytics to support content
planning and reporting.
• Create simple digital assets using tools such as Canva and other relevant
communications or marketing platforms.
Media, PR and Reporting
• Support media relations activity, including media monitoring, maintaining media contact records and preparing media materials where required.
• Assist with the drafting and preparation of press releases, media briefings, campaign
updates and other promotional content.
• Assist with regular communications reports covering social media performance, website
activity, campaign outputs and press and media coverage.
• Collect and organise information from digital and media monitoring sources to support
clear reporting and evaluation.
Campaign, Project and Event Support
• Support the planning, coordination and delivery of communications campaigns, projects, webinars and events.
• Assist with communications materials for organisational campaigns and public
engagement activities.
• Attend occasional events, meetings or field-based activities where communications
support is required.
• Coordinate with colleagues, suppliers and external stakeholders as needed to support
delivery of communications activities.
General
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to communications planning.
• Maintain organised communications files, templates, image assets and campaign
records.
• Carry out other duties appropriate to the role as assigned from time to time.
Requirements
Essential Skills and Experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing
priorities in a part-time role.
• Accuracy, attention to detail and confidence proofreading or editing written content.
• Experience in a communications, marketing, digital communications, public relations,
journalism, charity, community or related role.
• Demonstrated experience creating or managing social media content in a professional,
voluntary or organisational setting.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365 and Teams.
• Experience using communications and marketing tools such as Canva, Mailchimp,
SurveyMonkey or equivalent platforms.
• Awareness of confidentiality and the ability to deal sensitively with queries or content
relating to mental health.
Educational and Experience Requirements
• A third level qualification in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism,
digital media or another relevant discipline is desirable.
• Equivalent professional, voluntary or lived experience relevant to the role may also be
considered.
Desirable
• Experience supporting campaigns, events, webinars or project delivery.
• Experience preparing monitoring reports or performance summaries for communications, digital or media activity.
• Understanding of the charity, health, mental health or social impact sector.
