Community Engagement in Research

11 Nov 2026
Limerick
10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Looking for a partner for your research projects? Want to connect with someone who shares your interests?

Join our in-person matchmaking event and meet likeminded community groups and academics from University of Limerick!

The goal of this event is to facilitate more partnerships between academics and community sector representatives working on similar topics so that they can work together more cohesively, and ultimate access funding for engaged research projects.

Engaged Research is an approach that involves collaboration with communities to societal challenges. Research following this approach is advanced with community partners rather than for them. Engaged research provides an important opportunity for the community sector to play an active role in shaping research and innovation in our areas or work, and to benefit from research outcomes that can inform their services and advocacy.

This event will focus specifically on the themes of:

  • Community innovation
  • Health & wellbeing
  • Intergenerational action.

So, if you work on any of those areas, don’t miss this unique opportunity!

Featuring input from experts from the nonprofit sector and the University of Limerick, this event will include:

  • Practical tips for effective networking
  • The opportunity to network and connect with potential partners
  • An overview of funding opportunities for engaged research projects at national and EU level
  • Supports available.

This event is a collaboration between The Wheel’s Access Europe programme and University of Limerick. Access Europe is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs.

She also supports the teams that deliver The Wheel’s many member services – including the Skills, EU, and Shared Island Programmes – to identify opportunities and maximise their value to members. One of the parts of her job that she enjoys most is working with members to support them with all things funding, and to better understand how we can improve our member offering.
