Youth Clubs: Delivering Serious Fun
Dublin Castle
Saturday 11th October 2014

The Youth Work Ireland National Conference – Youth Clubs: Delivering Serious Fun takes place in Dublin Castle on Saturday 11th October. The conference will look at the importance of youth clubs in the lives of young people, and also the policy related issues in regards to the delivery of youth work through voluntary led youth clubs. By far the majority of young people in Ireland who engage in youth work do so through community based voluntary youth clubs.

On the day we will have inputs from young people, volunteers, workers, key policy and decision makers who will share practice and provide evidence that youthclubs do serious and challenging work in a fun way – work which has a transformative and positive influence on local communities in both the rural and urban context.

Apart from the formal structure of a conference the day will also feature fun and activity based workshops, games in the yard, musical entertainment, spot prizes and more…

This event will be of huge benefit to anyone involved in youth clubs in Ireland today.

Speakers on the day to include:

Minister for Children & Youth Affairs, Dr. James Reilly

Professor Michael Fitzgerald, TCD

Seamus Boland, CEO Irish Rural Link

Liz Canavan, DCYA

Janet Gaynor, HSE

Lorraine Thompson, Donegal Youth Service

Dr. John Bamber, Centre for Effective Services
