A Surround Sound Musical Occasion

Thomas Tallis’s 40-Part Motet “Spem in Alium”

St Patrick’s Cathedral Dublin Saturday 7th May 2016 8.00pm

It is our privilege to invite you to one of the most magnificent sacred choral music events of the year. Now in its 22nd year, the Carmichael Centre together with the Goethe-Institut Choir, conductor John Dexter and soprano Virginia Kerr will deliver this stunning event.

Tallis set the words from the Book of Judith, beginning with a single voice, then growing to all 40 voices in Bar Number 40! Then he throws text from singers on one side of the building to singers on the other side. Never do any two voice parts have the same two notes twice in succession! It’s a Tour de Force comparable to Bach’s Die Kunst der Fuge.

The work only lasts ten minutes so the Goethe-Institut Choir will perform it both at the beginning and end of their concert on May 7th in aid of the Carmichael Centre for Voluntary Groups. Other works in the programme include Handel’s popular Zadok the Priest, Haydn’s Little Organ Mass and Vivaldi’s Nulla in Mundo Pax Sincera.

Tickets for this spectacular event are priced at only €20 each and can be purchased on the Carmichael Centre website. Group bookings (10 or more) will enjoy discounted entry please call Ken Kilbride on 087-2492863 to arrange this for you.

We very much hope you can make it to this wonderful event.
