Smashing Times Storytelling Happening at the

Ballyholland National Foresters’ Club, Newry

Smashing Times Theatre Company is travelling to the Ballyholland National Foresters’ Club, Newry where it will host a Storytelling Happening on Saturday 12 October, 10.30am-5.30pm.  This event is part of The Memory Project which is run by Smashing Times Theatre Company in partnership with Corrymeela Community and in association with CAIN (Conflict Archive on the Internet) and the University of Ulster INCORE International Conflict Research Institute. The projectis funded through the EU’s PEACE III Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.

The Storytelling Happening uses the creative processes of theatre to explore and draw out experiences of people in the Border counties. The participative drama workshop provides an opportunity for those taking part to tell their stories and experiences of conflict and uses fun theatre games and exercises to allow participants to remember and share their memories of living in the Newry area. The Happening aims to acknowledge participants’ different experiences and discuss their hopes and vision for their area.  

This Smashing Times Storytelling Happenings is free and open to all (age 18 plus)  including individuals, organisations, artists, community and youth leaders, teachers and all those interested in using the arts to work in community settings.  The storytelling workshop requires active participation in physical theatre exercises and improvisations
