The Kinsale peace project is delighted to announce that Mr Richard Moore has accepted the Kinsale Peace Project's invitation to speak in Kinsale on Monday, May 17th at 8pm.

The event will take place in the Carmelite Friary Centre in Kinsale, Co. Cork.

Richard Moore as a child was shot in Derry, during the troubles on his way home from school age 10 yrs and as a result lost his eyesight; he recently appeared on the Late Late Show together with the soldier who shot him on the terrible day. He used the occassion to promotes peace and forgiveness.

Richard also set up his own charity, “Children in Crossfire”, in which the charity help those children caught up in conflicts and poverty around the globe, the Dalai Lama recently visited him in Northern Ireland, He wrote a best selling book recently called “can I give him my eyes” about his life. The visit in late May to Kinsale of this remarkable man should be a very moving and profound visit.
We intend to bring him to visit several schools in the Kinsale area, including Summmercove national school and Kinsale community school,

  • Author and Trocaire aid worker, Richard Poole, who is based in the Democratic Republic of Congo
  • Justin Kilcullen ,Director of Trocaire

The Kinsale Peace Project is a voluntary non profit group, it was set up by Padraig Fitzgerald and Gerard Timmons in 2007 its aim to promote human rights issues and bring peace makers to the town of Kinsale and community of Kinsale!
