New Report: Management talent acquisition on the rise in the Irish nonprofit sector


There was a 12% increase in management roles advertised in the last quarter of 2017 in the Irish Nonprofit sector.

This finding has emerged from the latest 2into3 Quarterly Recruitment Monitor which also found that services and operations roles were the most popular in Quarter 4 with CEO roles doubling on the previous quarter, while Fundraising and Commercial roles advertised have also increased.

The 2into3 Quarterly Recruitment Monitor tracks trends and provides insight on management level recruitment in the nonprofit sector on a quarterly basis.
Irish seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined to 6.1 percent in November 2017 from an upwardly revised 6.3 percent in the previous month and compared with 7.5 percent a year earlier. It was the lowest jobless rate since May 2008. Forecasters predict it to dip below 6% in 2018 and stay below 6% until 2022 at least. This changes the landscape for talent in Ireland. We are now experiencing an employee’s market for recruitment in general and this trend has reached the nonprofit sector.
In an employee’s market candidates can be selective, pay differentials are noticed, there is a lower response to job adverts, non-pay conditions increase in importance. Candidates for management roles in the nonprofit sector will often have multiple offers and while pay differentials for a similar skill and experience set with private sector opportunities (typically up to 50% lower in not-for profit sector) are understandable differentials with peer nonprofit organisations of similar scale for similar roles are not.
