Kilmainham Arts Club

 

Thanks to all who came to the Arts Club on November 1st and especially our  contributors who made the night so magical. The Open-Mike Contest on Friday Nov.5th was full of talent and great music, the standard was really high but Claire Bonass won the €150 prize.  

 
Below are some dates of events for November to keep us going till Arts Club December 6th:
 
Fri. November 11th 9pm Leo O'Kelly & Garvan Gallagher 
renowned songwriter and guitarist Leo (of Tir Na N'Og) takes the audience on a psychedelic, ambient journey. Support  by talented guitarist/singer Robert Doyle who performs traditional Irish song in his totally unique style
 
Wednesday November 17th INN JOKES COMEDY NIGHT

Hosted by: Colm O'Regan who has performed all over the world, the Montreal Comedy festival, in the Far East and all over the UK and Ireland. Last year he made his Edinburgh debut. He's been on UK and Irish TV and is currently writing a weekly newspaper column for the Cork News.  

The Line Up:

 
Gearoid Farrelly In November's Inn Jokes, Gearoid brings us his witty and ascerbic take on a everything from Blathnaid ni Chofaigh to wheelie bins. Definitely one to catch. 
 
Rory O'Hanlon Not to be confused with the former Fianna Fail minister for Health, Rory has been doing stand up comedy since 2005. Rory's stand up is a mixture of hilarious story-telling and general observation all told by this extremely likeable Dubliner


Cathal Murray  This Autumn he embarks on a nationwide tour with Des Bishop so he's going to be comedy fighting fit when he brings his off-beat sharp jokes to the stage. Cathal is also to be heard on Sunday mornings on Radio 1.
 
Friday November 19th 9pm - Double-bill of two great bands:
Rev Jm's Panic Worship & The Poison Hearts
country, psychobilly, vintage rock and roll and the right injection of driving rhythms to tempt you off your seat!
 
Friday November 25th 9pm - Monthly Traditional Irish Music Night (host Paul Conlon)
THE BOG BLOSSOM
Caomhin Vallely, Eoin Coughlan, Nigel Grufferty and Brian Kissane are The Bog Blossom. With a mix of fiddle, button accordian, piano, percussion and voice they present their highly accomplished and fluid style of Trad which is at the top of the range in Ireland at present. 
 
 
Friday November 26th 9pm -
Mia Parsons, Garvan Gallagher and Mick O'Neill
sultry, powerful vocalist Mia teams up with two wonderful musicians on double bass and piano respectively. Influences from Soul, to Jazz and blues to disco.
