Invitation - A Human Rights Approach to Tackling Poverty and Social Inequality

The Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission Designate and the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission invite you to a conference to highlight the importance of human rights in combating poverty and social inequality:

Time: 9.30am to 4pm,

Venue: Canal Court Hotel, Newry, Northern Ireland

The conference will focus on the nature, extent and experience of poverty and social inequality in particular food poverty, inadequate housing and debt. It will highlight the importance of protecting and vindicating economic, social and cultural rights in times of economic crisis.

Speakers include Lauri Sivonen, Office of the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Professor Aoife Nolan, University of Nottingham, Michelle Murphy, Social Justice Ireland, Paul Joyce BL, FLAC, Bob Jordan, Threshold, Sinead Keenan, Healthy Food for All Initiative, and Paul Mac Flynn, NERI.
