Grow your Own and Protect Our Planet   -  A One Day Master Class on Growing Vegetables at Home

Date: 25/2/2012
Time: 10.00am - 4.30pm
Price: €50.00 cost includes lunch and materials

Nothing quite beats the flavour and freshness of your own home grown vegetables. There is a great sense of satisfaction in tending to vegetables from sowing to harvest time. More and more people are realising that it also saves on the weekly shopping bill.

However, we can also significantly reduce our carbon footprint by growing our own food. Our industrial style, mass produced food systems are playing their part in the breakdown of some of our earth systems. Climate change and biodiversity loss can only be faced by all of us, as a community, working together.
This one day workshop is designed to encourage people to grow as much food as possible in their available space-no matter how small. It will fill some of the gaps in your knowledge of cultivating vegetables and give tuition and demonstrations on the steps involved in some of the easiest and most productive crops to grow.
There will be considerable time used for questions and answers.

Facilitator: Michael Fox is a gardening instructor and has been growing produce in gardens and allotments for the past 27 years.
He is founder and chairperson of South Dublin Allotments Association. He received an RDS Allotment Award in 2010 for his allotment in Tymon Park.
He runs his Plot to Pot Gardening Courses in Terenure and in various venues across Dublin.
