In the OTC, we provide affordable accredited training to people in the disability, community, voluntary and non-profit sectors but we do more than simply that. We offer the opportunity to learn in a way that works for people who work in these sectors allowing our students to gain valuable qualifications while balancing work and life commitments.

We come from the sector and believe everything we do has to make a difference to people’s lives. For training to work, it must, therefore, be practical, professional, accredited and relevant but, most of all, it needs to be student-centred. It has to allow people pursue their personal and professional goals in a way that reflects the realities of their lives, where trying to balance work, life and learning is easy to say but not always easy to do.

Our upcoming accredited course, Certificate in Applied Management, for example, has been created specifically for, and by, people working in the sector. It provides people with the practical knowledge and skills needed to supervise, lead and manage a team in the community, voluntary, disability or not-for–profit sectors. It focuses explicitly on the statutory and regulatory environment in which we all operate and also satisfies the need, for example, for a management qualification as set out in the HIQA standards.

It also offers a gateway into productive professional development where the skills and knowledge acquired in this programme act as the foundations for more advanced management training (our Higher Certificate and Degree courses) and provides the opportunity for significant career advancement.

The online application deadline for the Certificate in Applied Management is January 12th with a course commencement date of January 23rd. Click HERE for more information about applying. Anyone applying between now and the end of Nov is in with a chance of winning a credit of €495 towards their course fees!
