Be a part of Ireland's largest dementia event!

We are now inviting applications for short presentations, interactive workshops and poster presentations for the 10th International Dementia Conference, which takes place on the 16th & 17th of April 2018, in The Helix, DCU, Dublin.

Ireland's leading annual dementia event features a panel of national and international speakers, and a wide range of parallel sessions and workshops. The overall event theme is Growing Excellence in Dementia Care, and ethics-based practice a thread running throughout.

Conference Advisory Panel:

The National Dementia Office, Nursing Homes Ireland (NHI), the Irish Hospice Foundation (IHF), Understand Together National Dementia Campaign, the Creative Dementia Arts Network (CDAN) UK and others.

Topics for abstract submissions include:

  • Dementia care in the acute hospital 
  • Living well with dementia in the residential setting  
  • Design and dementia / technology 
  • Community-based supports for people with dementia and carers
  • Creative arts initiatives / psycho social approaches
  • Intellectual disability and dementia 
  • Prevention / diagnosis 
  • Assisted decision making capacity legislation / practice   
  • Supporting people at end of life
  • Policy change to support better outcomes

We especially welcome cross-disciplinary applications, including areas such as the arts, health, care, neuroscience, technology, research and education.  

Applicants have three options: 

  • Short presentations:presentations offered will usually be 10 - 15 minutes 
  • Innovative, interactive workshops:a longer format of either 30 or 70 minutes to allow you to run an interactive session.  
  • Poster presentations: we welcome posters for display in the conference hall. Posters should describe a project or service with comment/evaluation, or report on research work.
