Update on The Ireland Funds Grants for 2018

Over the last 40 years, The Ireland Funds have supported nonsprofit organisations across the island of Ireland working in the areas of Arts & Culture, Community Development, Education and Peace & Reconciliation.

In addition to facilitating a significant number of Donor Advised Grants, The Ireland Funds also operate two competitive grant rounds each year—the Small Grant Round and the Flagship Grant Round. The Fund also provide non-financial support including grant workshops, fundraising advice and training.

Although specific opening / closing dates and guidelines have not yet been confirmed for 2018, interested nonprofits are advised to monitor the Ireland Funds website closely over the coming weeks.

Available details are as follows:

The Small Grant Round

Apply online in March 2018 (submission deadlines TBC)

The Small Grant Round supports nonprofit and community organizations across the island of Ireland and Northern Ireland. This fund offers grant funding under €7,000/£7,000 for smaller community organisations and for organizations that have not previously been supported by The Ireland Funds.

The Flagship Grant Round

In 2014, The Ireland Funds launched the first Flagship Grant Round. The purpose of the Flagship Grant Round is to provide multi-annual funding of up to €50,000/£50,000 for organisations that have established a strong track record of managing grants from The Ireland Funds. This is a highly competitive funding round that targets organisations wishing to pilot new programs or to scale initiatives that are already having an impact.

Grants Workshops and Feedback

The Ireland Funds support nonprofit organisations by delivering grants workshops in locations around Ireland and Northern Ireland. These workshops are free to attend and cover:

  • The Ireland Funds’ grant-making process
  • Our program areas and funding priorities
  • Examples of strong versus weak applications
  • Tips on what makes a competitive application for both funding rounds

The Ireland Funds will be running a series of Grant Workshops in early February 2018. Details will be published soon.
