Sunday Business Post to Publish Special Nonprofit Sector Report on 3 June

On Sunday  3 June, The Sunday Business Post will publish a special report on Ireland's Nonprofit Sector. This report will focus on the challenges faced by the sector in this period of renewal and change.

Ireland’s nonprofit sector has entered a new era of increased accountability, regulation and reporting. Over the past year, the Charities Regulator has issued a series of new financial reporting, governance and fundraising guidelines.

Nonprofits also have to comply with GDPR from 25 May. The Regulator will be publishing a new governance code for the sector in September and the Regulator is currently developing a set of compulsory financial reporting and fundraising guidelines. At the same time, there is a push toward innovation and professionalism.

These developments are already having far-reaching consequences in a sector that employs over 158,000 people (7.3% of all paid employment in Ireland) and has a combined annual income of 12.1bn.

Drawing on the latest research, in particular, this report will look at:

  • How the sector is adapting to the new regulatory framework, the role of the Charities Regulator and forthcoming regulatory requirements

  • Good financial and corporate governance in the sector. The implementation of voluntary codes and standards, including SORP, the Charities’ Regulators forthcoming governance code and its fundraising guidelines.

  • GDPR: how charities will comply with the General Data Protection Regulations

  • Charitable organisations and tax issues – how to apply for a tax exemption, eligibility and structures.

  • Guidelines for tendering and procurement. Support, advice and services available to Not-for-Profits to assist the transition to a commissioning model.

  • Human Resource Management, professional standards, training and leadership.

This report will be an ideal platform for businesses/experts who provide accounting, consultancy, legal, procurement and advisory services to charities and non-profit organisations to achieve a showcase in a highly relevant and supportive editorial.

The editorial & booking deadline is 1pm Tuesday,  29 May.
