Samaritans National Fundraising and Awareness Day - 24th July: 24/7

The Samaritans have launched their nationwide 24:7 campaign to raise vital funds for their ongoing work. Samaritans are available 24 hours a day to provide confidential emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide.

The aim of this new campaign is to get fundraisers around the country to host a garden or summer-themed event on July 24. The Samaritans suggest holding a coffee morning, BBQ, picnic or garden party - the options for fundraising fun are endless! The main idea is that friends and family can get together to have a good time while also helping to raise much-needed funds for the Samaritans.

The day chosen by the Samaritans is the 24th of July. "The date and month is significant as it reinforces the charity's message that seven days a week, 24 hours a day Samaritans are there to help those in need," added a spokeswoman.
