Photo Exhibition Highlights Dedication of Samaritans Volunteers

A photo exhibition focusing on the work of Samaritans will be launched by broadcaster Claire Byrne at European Union House in Dublin on Thursday, 21st July

The photo exhibition – entitled ‘24/7’ – will showcase how Samaritans’ services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days of the year. It will also celebrate the contribution made by Samaritans volunteers: over 2,000 people volunteer with the organisation in Ireland, coming from all walks of life and ranging in age from early 20s upwards. Volunteers featured in the exhibition will include:

The exhibition also feature images of volunteers at work in the Sligo and Dublin branches of Samaritans, and members of the ‘Festival Branch’ delivering outreach support services at this year’s Oxegen music festival. All images were taken by Irish photographer Derek Speirs.

‘24/7’ will run in joint, neighbouring locations – European Union House and Fixx Coffee House, 13-17 Dawson Street – until Friday, 29th July. The opening hours for European Union House are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. The opening hours for Fixx Coffee House are Monday to Saturday, 7am to 8pm, and Sunday, 8am to 7pm.
Admission to the exhibition is free of charge.

Samaritans is a volunteer-led organisation, which has been supporting those in distress and suicidal crisis in Ireland since 1961.
