Nominations now open for the inaugural Charity Impact Awards

The Wheel is very pleased to announce that the inaugural Charity Impact Awards is now open for nominations.

The aim of this new national award is to tell the story of the positive impact community, voluntary and charitable organisations are making in communities across Ireland, and to inspire others to do the same.

The Wheel believes that if our fantastic community, voluntary and charity sector is to truly thrive in the years ahead, we'll need more than great governance, effective regulation and transparency: we need to tell our stories better. We need to get out from the undergrowth and show - and celebrate! - the impact and importance of our work. The Charity Impact Awards is your opportunity to be part of this positive story.

What do we mean by "impact"?

For us, impact means making a positive difference in people’s lives. And, as you will see below, there are so many ways to make this happen.

Where You Come In

All building towards the Charity Impact Awards night in Dublin on 13 December (more on that soon), there are three ways to enter the Charity Impact Awards, as detailed below.

This means that there truly is a role for every member of The Wheel to play...

1. Community Impact Award

The Community Impact Award celebrates the work of community and voluntary organisations, clubs or groups that have brought about positive impact. Your primary means of communicating this impact will be in writing (using our online form), but you are also welcome to submit complementing video (3 minutes max length) and/or photos to tell your story.

There are three sub-categories for the Community Impact Award:

  1. Small organisations (no paid staff)
  2. Medium-sized organisations (with paid staff and annual turnover of up to €1 million)
  3. Large organisations (with paid staff and annual turnover over €1 million).

2. Charity Trustee of the Year

The Charity Trustee of the Year Award celebrates the work of active Charity Trustees. These are the tireless individuals who work behind the scenes and often go unheralded for the amazing work that they do.

Well, we're hoping to change that by giving you a chance to nominate the Charity Trustee that most inspires you and who has made a lasting and positive impact in their organisation and community.

3. Community Hero Award

The 2017 Community Hero Award (in association with the Volunteer Ireland Awards) is a lifetime achievement award honouring a volunteer who has made an extraordinary contribution to a good cause over the course of their lifetimes.

Nominations for this category come directly from Volunteer Ireland Awards - you can, however, play a part in this one too by visiting the Volunteer Ireland Awards site here.

Note: when entering any of the above categories, please first ensure that you have the permission and approval of the nominated party to submit their details.
