Dublin Bus Support Programme Re-opens

The Dublin Bus Community Support Programme (CSP) opens again for applications on Monday, 1 March 2010. Now in its seventh year the Dublin Bus CSP awards grants to local charities and community groups in the Greater Dublin area.

Back on the Road

The 2010 CSP officially kicks off on Monday, 1 March at the Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, with Niall Quinn, the programme’s patron, Chairman of Sunderland F.C. and former Irish International Footballer, on hand to get things rolling.

Quinn, who has been involved with the programme since its inception, said “In these difficult times, the funding that Dublin Bus provides through its CSP programme is vital to local communities. I have been involved with the scheme for the last seven years and I have seen first hand the huge difference these grants make to local community groups”.

About the Community Support Programme

To date over 1,000 groups and hundreds of people have benefited from the funding provided by Dublin Bus. Local Dublin 22 community groups which benefited from the programme last year include Knockmitten Youth & Community Centre, Ronanstown Youth Service/Horse Care Group, St. Mark's Rangers FC, St. Bernadettes Junior School, Beacon of Light Counselling Centre, Gaelscoil Chluain Dolcain, Ballyowen Meadows, Bawnogue Youth and Family Support Group and St. Josephs B.N.S

Under the terms of the programme entrants submit a proposal with details of their organisation and the project which they wish to have funded. Each application is judged independently with grants ranging from €5,000, €2,000 and €1,000.

The closing date for applications is Friday, 30th April 2010.

The Dublin Bus CSP Roadshow will be stopping off at three other shopping centres throughout Dublin during March. The Roadshow will give people an opportunity how to fill out the application form, the success of the programme to date, and most importantly how Dublin Bus can help your local community group receive vital funding.
