Conference on Corporate Governance in the Public Sector (29 May)

On Thursday 29 May 2014 Public Affairs Ireland is holding a special half-day conference on corporate governance in the public sector and in the NGO sector. 
The conference will address some of the current governance challenges facing public sector organisations and NGOs in a constructive and focused manner. Delegates will hear contributions from a range of leading speakers and will have an opportunity to participate in questions and answers sessions. Minister Pat Rabbitte TD will open the conference and deliver the keynote speech.

A range of issues will be discussed at the conference including: 
  • The Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies, 2009
  • Creating a culture of good corporate governance and compliance
  • Implications of poor standards in this area on public expenditure
  • The PAC, corporate governance and accountability
  • Directors’ and officers’ responsibilities
  • Potential legal pitfalls
  • Internal audit and risk management.
This will be a topical and informative conference on significant current issues and forthcoming developments which will be of keen interest to all public servants, state bodies, NGOs, local government bodies and all wider stakeholders concerned with good corporate.
