Carlow communities invited to take part in ground-breaking project

Carlow Public Participation Network (PPN) is inviting local communities to take part in a ground-breaking initiative aimed at improving the way local communities are consulted on services, infrastructure projects and other important issues.

In the coming weeks, the PPN will be hosting three public consultation events across the county. The ideas gathered at these events will help shape the PPN’s Consultation Toolkit for public bodies, local authorities and other interested parties.

On behalf of Carlow PPN, the project is being facilitated by The Wheel, the national association of community, voluntary and charitable organisations.

Commenting on the initiative, Gráinne O'Neill, Coordinator of the Carlow PPN said, “This is a chance to be part of something that has not been done before, to break new ground and to show leadership for communities all over Ireland and internationally.”

The first public consultation event is on 7 February (7-9pm) at the Cairdeas Centre in Tullow. Bagenalstown Family Resource Centre will host the second event on 8 February (10.30am-12.30pm), and the final event will take place on 20 February at the Cathedral Parish Centre, Carlow Town between 7 and 9pm. Everyone is welcome.

These events are free to attend and light refreshments will be served. To register, contact Gráinne O'Neill at, or on Tel: 059 9172495.
