Call for Applications to ESB’s Energy for Generations Community Fund

ESB, Ireland’s foremost energy company, has opened its autumn round of its 2015 ‘Energy for Generations’ community fund.  ESB is calling on not-for-profit organisations and charities, as well as community and voluntary organisations to apply.

The fund supports projects whose work falls under the following areas: educational access and support; suicide prevention; care of the homeless.  Each year, ESB awards funding to approximately 150 projects across Ireland, working to address these issues.

The closing date for the current round is Wednesday, 19th August 2015.

Announcing the opening of this round of the Energy for Generations fund, Kristin Quinn, Internal Communications Manager at ESB, said: “Corporate Social Responsibility is at the heart of ESB’s vision, and with deep roots in the community dating back to 1927, ESB is committed to playing a role in addressing some of the key social issues facing Ireland today. With grants totalling approximately €250,000 each quarter, the Energy for Generations Fund is helping to bring about positive changes where it is most needed in communities throughout Ireland.

“Under the Energy for Generations Community, approximately €1m is granted per year to a range of community and issues-based initiatives, with specific focus on issues relating to education, homelessness and suicide prevention. These areas were chosen by our employees at ESB as the focus of our corporate social responsibility programme.”

ESB’s Energy for Generations Fund is open to organisations within the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

The fund operates four rounds each year, and is awarded on merit.  Funding is not awarded to cover fundraising activity, staff costs or operating costs, however, capital costs will be considered.  Organisations are encouraged to secure independent local funding as well as applying to the Energy for Generations fund, and should indicate the level of the organisation’s own resources that are being invested into the project.
