Bray Cancer Support Centre Becomes Purple House - Cancer Support

Ireland’s 1st Community based Cancer Support Centre, Bray Cancer Support Centre is fast approaching its 25th Anniversary in early 2015.  As part of the organisation’s development it will now be known as Purple House - Cancer Support.

Founded in Bray, Co. Wicklow in 1990 by Veronica O’Leary, Bray Cancer Support quickly established a new philosophy in community based Cancer Support at the time. Over the past 25 years, the organisation has expanded to meet the needs of over 2,500 people annually throughout the Leinster area.  

The new name, Purple House - Cancer Support will allow the organisation to be more inclusive.

'Purple House - Cancer Support' derives its name from the colour Purple which has long been associated with the organisation and is also the colour of healing, courage and cancer survival. The word 'House' describes the warm, loving & embracing environment that we operate in.

All services currently provided by Purple House - Cancer Support and the wonderful team will remain the same as the organisation continues to operate from its Drop-In Centre in Bray, but  will continue providing services to people throughout the Leinster area.

During 2013, it provided 396 Counselling Sessions & 407 hospital transport trips, along with the extensive range of services. 429 new clients registered with during that year.

Throughout the past 25 years Purple House - Cancer Support has been at the forefront in offering first class community based Cancer Support services to both adults and children alike. The team lead by Veronica includes counsellors, complimentary therapists, volunteer support staff & volunteer hospital transport drivers.

The Drop-In Centre at Aubrey Court, Parnell Road, Bray, Co. Wicklow and phone number 01-2866966 will continue as normal.  The text donation line (Text PURPLE to 50300 to donate €4) will remain the same. The website address will change to while the social media presence will also reflect the name change.

But of course the organisation's Purple tee-shirts will stay!
