We are currently recruiting for Team Members with a variety of qualifications and experiences to work in Community Houses and Local Services.

KARE provides support to people who have an intellectual disability and their families. We were founded in 1967 and work in the mid and south Kildare, east Offaly, west Wicklow and northeast Carlow areas of Ireland.  We believe that people with an intellectual disability are important and should be a part of their community like everyone else. We work with each individual who uses the service to support them to develop their skills and abilities so that they can live the life of their choice.

Social Care Assistants

Minimum Qualification: QQI Level 5 Intellectual Disability Practice/Social Care/Community Support Worker Programme - 3 Components including Intellectual Disability


Social Care Workers

Minimum Qualification: Social Care Degree or equivalent


Facilitator/ Instructor x 1 in KARE, initial location: Tinahely Local Service

Minimum Qualification: QQI Level 5 Major Award – Intellectual Disability Practice/Social Care


Required qualities/experiences:

  • A proven track record in developing and implementing an Individual Support Plan
  • Experienced and comfortable working with people who may exhibit Challenging Behaviour
  • Understanding of contemporary approaches to positive behavioural support and the principles of community inclusion
  • Enjoy working on your own with a person with an intellectual disability
  • Ability to build trusting and respectful relationships
  • Use your own initiative to get the job done and complete household tasks
  • IT skills and the ability to carry out administrative tasks e.g. e-mail correspondence, report writing, use of assistive technology
  • A full, clean, manual driving licence and use of own car is essential.  The person appointed will be required to drive KARE vehicles as necessary
  • Be flexible in your working arrangements as some positions involve sleep-over, waking nights, and week-end work.

All positions are contracted to Adult Supports, while all staff will be assigned an initial location, staff may be asked to move to another location depending on the needs of the service.

    Salary is paid in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales.
