We are looking for an exceptional Senior Community Manager to execute our ambitious growth goals. This newly created position will lead on mobilising and supporting our global community of volunteers and partners, helping us provide new opportunities for hundreds of thousands of young people attending Dojos around the world.

Reporting to the Executive Director (CoderDojo Foundation), you will be responsible for driving our growth strategy and support channels for the global community. The ideal candidate will be an experienced community manager with a track record in scaling programs across multiple locations. You will be both a team leader, able to support other people to do the best work of their careers, and an outstanding individual contributor, ready to roll your sleeves up and generate brilliant work yourself.

You will work closely with the General Manager (Outreach and Engagement) and the wider Raspberry Pi Youth Programmes team in the UK and North America.

You will lead the execution of our community support and scaling. The ideal candidate will be a natural at strategic thinking, have strong sales skills and the ability to identify opportunities and devise and implement measurable methods to monitor and track our efforts.

Main responsibilities

  • Overseeing the development and execution of the community scaling strategy, supporting the growth of the CoderDojo movement in existing and new territories.
  • Developing and implementing programmes that help Dojos continue running, as well as understanding and addressing the common causes for Dojos becoming inactive.
  • Developing and delivering volunteer recruitment and recognition initiatives, ensuring that all volunteers have positive and rewarding experience.
  • Building and maintaining our network of global growth partners such as corporates, universities, and local government networks who identify with the CoderDojo vision and evangelise our mission to employees, clients or networks.
  • Ensuring that we measure the success of the support that we deliver.
  • Working with product managers to guide the development of the global community platform to ensure it meets the needs of the evolving and growing community.
  • Monitoring and reporting on community growth metrics and KPIs, and determining the optimal distribution of Community Team resources.
  • Represent the Foundation externally at community and partner events.
  • Leading a high performing community team.
  • Managing budgets effectively.

Experience and personal attributes

You should be:

  • Able to demonstrate a strong track record in implementing strategies to scale face to face and online community movements, ideally involving children and young people.
  • A team leader, experienced in managing both direct reports and peers or non reporting team members within a cross functional team.
  • Extensive experience of developing and managing long-lasting, effective partnerships with a variety of organisations.
  • A background in volunteer management including attracting and retaining large numbers of volunteers.
  • An analytical mind with experience measuring data and understanding and communicating trends.
  • A track record in delivering results and meeting KPI’s.
  • Passionate about technology, education, and digital making, and familiar with the ecosystems and communities that surround these fields.

You’ll ideally have experience of:

  • Working in a remote team.
  • Developing marketing and communications strategies.
  • Working in a non-profit or mission-led organisation, ideally in the fields of education or technology.
  • The CoderDojo community or wider Raspberry Pi community.
