Accessible Counselling Tullamore is recruiting a Counselling Service Manager to lead our community counselling service with care, professionalisam and heart.

Accessible Counselling Tullamore (ACT)

Location: Onsite, Tullamore, Co Offaly
Hours: Full-time – 38.5hrs per week
Salary: €50,000 - €60,000 Commensurate with experience 
Reports to: Operations Manager

ACT is a community-based charity providing professional, accessible, affordable and timely counselling & psychotherapy to people aged 16 and over. ACT is dedicated to making counselling accessible to everyone, regardless of income or circumstance. 

About the Role

ACT is seeking a Counselling Service Manager to lead and support our team of counsellors, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care and service delivery.

This is a pivotal leadership role for a dynamic professional with the vision, skill set, and ambition to review, strengthen, and grow ACT’s counselling service. The postholder will oversee clinical operations, develop innovative service initiatives, and contribute to ACT’s strategic goals while maintaining direct engagement with clients and counsellors.

This role combines hands-on clinical oversight with team leadership and operational management. The successful candidate will provide mentorship and guidance to accredited and pre-accredited counsellors, maintain a manage a clinical caseload, and collaborate with the Operations Manager to uphold best practice and continuous improvement across the service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical mentoring and support to counsellors.
  • Ensure adherence to ACT’s clinical policies and ethical standards.
  • Lead the ongoing review and growth of ACT’s counselling service, identifying opportunities for innovation, expansion, and improved community access.
  • Recruit, induct, and support counsellors throughout their professional journey.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of accreditation, insurance, and supervision.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and manage a manage a clinical caseload.
  • Support the development of policies, audits, and service evaluations.
  • Facilitate team meetings, training, and CPD sessions.
  • Respond to client feedback and ensure quality, compassionate service delivery.

Essential Requirements

  • Recognised qualification in Counselling or Psychotherapy (minimum Level 8).
  • Full accreditation with IACP, IAHIP, APCP, or equivalent body.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Experience providing managing a counselling team and/or clinical supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Sound knowledge of ethical frameworks and safeguarding legislation.

Desirable

  • Experience working in a community or not-for-profit setting.
  • Qualification in clinical supervision or leadership.
  • Familiarity with client management systems.
