Policy & Advocacy

The Wheel contributes to policy development on cross-cutting issues affecting the community & voluntary sector and advocates for the sector in various arenas, including Social Partnership. We develop positions and policy, informed by our membership, research and external developments.

Below you will find a range of information on our work on key issues for the community & voluntary sector. This information includes positions that The Wheel has taken, processes that are in train and structures established by The Wheel to develop thinking on these areas within the sector.

The Wheel has produced a manifesto on the cross-cutting needs of community and voluntary organisations which is available here.  Progress on the items included in the manifesto are detailed here.

The Wheel prepared an opinion piece for the Irish Times that details the development agenda facing the sector over and above the requirement for regulation.  The piece draws attention to the need for the sector to be properly resourced and supported in the context of the proposed new regulatory environment.
