Addiction Training Institute
The Addiction Training Institute is the largest private provider of addiction education and training in the country. ATI courses are taught at foundation, certificate and degree level.
The two year part-time Higher Certificate (Level 6) in Applied Addiction Studies has been developed in partnership with Athlone Institute of Technology. On successful completion the course leads directly to a one year part-time BA (Level 7) in Applied Addiction Studies. Both courses are accredited by the Athlone Institute of Technology/Hetac. The courses additionally satisfy the Training and Education criteria set down by the Irish Association of Alcohol and Addiction Counsellors (IAAAC) for professional accreditation as an Addiction Counsellor. On completion of this course, and providing all other criteria are fulfilled (supervision and clinical work experience ), successful participants will be able to seek professional accreditation as an Addiction Counsellor
Mr. John Crimmins (M.Sc., PG Dip, MIACP) is the Director and Founder of ATI. He has extensive and successful experience in both business management and psychotherapy. He is a Trinity College trained Psychotherapist and is accredited with the Irish Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy. John's Master's Degree is in 'The Psychodynamics of Groups & Organisations'. He has also trained in Group Dynamics with the A.K. Rice Institute, Washington, USA. John is presently working towards a Clinical Doctorate in Psychotherapy with Middlesex University.
John specialises in the area of addiction and Eating Disorders. He Senior Manager in the Merchants Quay Drug Project for 1
years. He has consulted to teams in large organisations, managed multidisciplinary teams in clinical settings & facilitated a broad range of therapeutic Groupwork over the last 12 years. He currently manages the treatment programmes for Anorexia & Bulimia at the Kildare Street Clinic.
Mr. Gary Broderick (BA, BD, Dip Addiction Studies TCD) has over fifteen years experience working in the field of addiction. He worked as an Addiction Counsellor with the Health Board for many years. Following this he worked as Director of the Ana Liffey Drug Project. He was a tutor on the Addiction Studies Course in Trinity College. Gary also has extensive experience as Chairperson on numerous committees. He was Chairperson of the North Inner City Local Drugs Task Force, Chairperson of the Voluntary Drug Treatment Forum, Voluntary Representative of The National Advisory Committee on Drugs & Chairperson of their sub-committee on Drug Treatment. Gary is currently Chairperson of the Midlands Regional Task Force & Chairperson of the Ethics Committee of the Irish Association of Alcohol & Addiction Counsellors (IAAAC).
